    Pre-game preview: Syracuse

It's hard to believe that this is the last time UConn and Syracuse will meet as Big East members.

Syracuse is moving on to the ACC next season.

The Big East is crumbling all around UConn

It was nice to see Jim Calhoun and Jim Boeheim chatting on the XL Center floor tonight.

    Bet Calhoun misses the rivalry.

The Huskies will stick with the same starting five: Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright, Omar Calhoun, DeAndre Daniels and Tyler Olander.

    Here's your pre-game preview

    Records: Syracuse 20-3, 8-2, UConn 16-6, 6-4

Last game: Syracuse beat St. John’s, 77-58, Sunday; UConn won at Seton Hall, 78-67, Sunday

Probable starters: UConn, 6-1 jr. guard Shabazz Napier (17.2 pts. 4.3 rebs, 4.3 assists), 6-0 so. guard Ryan Boatright (15.8 pts, 4.4 assists), 6-5 fr. guard Omar Calhoun (11.1 pts, 3.4 rebs), 6-8 so. forward DeAndre Daniels (10.7 pts, 4.8 rebs), 6-9 jr. forward Tyler Olander (4.5 pts, 3.7 rebs)

Syracuse, 6-6 so. guard Michael Carter-Williams (12.7 pts, 8.5 assists), 6-4 jr. guard Brandon Triche (14.6 pts, 3.6 rebs), 6-8 fr. forward Jerami Grant (5.4 pts, 3.0 rebs), 6-8 jr. forward C.J. Fair (14.0 pts, 7-2 rebs), 6-9 so. center Rakeem Christmas (6.3 pts, 5.2 rebs).

    Noteworthy:

-- Syracuse resides in first place, so UConn needs a win to stay in the regular season title race.

The Huskies have only eight games remaining in their season.

-- Series: UConn trails, 54-36, losing six of the last seven meetings. Huskies lost, 71-69, at Gampel last season.

-- The Orange’s BE losses came at Villanova and at Pittsburgh.

-- Top reserve: forward James Southerland (13.6 pts, 5.0 rebs). He returned for Sunday’s game after serving six game suspension for academic reasons.

-- Carter-Williams leads nation in assists.

-- Here's an impressives stat: The Orange are 30-4 in their last 34 Big East games.

-- As always, key to beating SU: solving long, active zone.

-- Hot: Boatright converted 22 of his last 24 free throws. Cold: Giffey shooting 3-for-14 from field in last three games.

-- UConn reserve center Enosch Wolf is out while serving an indefinite suspension. He was arrested early Monday morning after a domestic incident on-campus. He was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

He appeared in Rockville Superior Court today and had his case continued to March 20.

-- It is the first of three straight home games for Huskies, who host Villanova Saturday and Cincinnati Feb. 21.
