I was ashamed to see that the two Democrats in the state Senate who voted against the landmark gun control legsislation Wednesday were both from eastern Connecticut. Sen. Cathy Osten's nay vote did not surprise me. Maybe it's a former prison guard's take on the issue. I was especially disappointed with the nay vote from Andrew Maynard of Stonington, who seems to be pandering to the rural extremes of his district. Surely the only magazines his neighbors in Stonington Borough are comfortable with are the New Yorker and Vanity Fair.
