    American Legion still going strong

The American Legion exemplifies community service, informed, effective advocacy for veterans of all eras at the local, state and federal levels including free, professional and effective representation for veterans seeking earned benefits from the Veterans Administration, including compensation and health care.

As volunteers at VA hospitals nationwide, sponsoring Scouting groups, American Legion Baseball and expanding American Legion Family Riders, Legionnaires continue to improve the lives and opportunities of veterans, families and their communities.

The American Legion has 94 years of standing up for these ideals, stepping up and providing billions of dollars and millions of volunteer hours across the spectrum of programs and services, and speaking up for veterans rights, benefits and opportunities.

As the nation's largest veterans service organization with Posts in communities large and small, the face of the Legion changes with the changing ages and demographics of our comrades in arms - a testament to the shared service and shared sacrifice of our members - military veterans who have answered the Call to Arms for nearly a century, and to the societal ideals of America.

Change presents the type of opportunities that Legionnaires have embraced and promoted to our fellow citizens. Happy birthday to the American Legion - not just a place, but an ideal.
