Tough times in Texas for the Sox

It was a rough weekend for Boston sports.

After a Thursday night where the Celtics forced a Game 6 with the Knicks with an overtime win, the Bruins beat up on the Maple Leafs to take Game 1 of their playoff series and the Red Sox picked up their 20th win of the season to lead Major League Baseball, things fell apart fast.

The Celtics were ousted from the playoffs by the Knicks losing Game 6 Friday night, the Bruins got beat by Toronto in Game 2 Saturday night and the Red Sox got swept in Texas.

It was tough times in Texas for Boston getting blanked 7-0 Friday night with a disastrous performance by Felix Doubrant, a 5-1 loss Saturday night and a walk-off extra innings loss yesterday afternoon.  Boston was outscored 16-4 over the 3 games and for the first time this season lost 3 straight.  It’s interesting because after such a great start through the month of April, many were looking at this Texas series on the road as the Red Sox first big test this season and it did not go well.

The first weekend in May is when the 2013 Red Sox faced their first bump in the road. Believe me, there will be much more to come.  I’m looking forward to seeing the response from this team tonight.  Back in Fenway against the Twins with American League Pitcher of the Month in April Clay Buchholz seems like the perfect remedy to cure the tough times in Texas.
