    Kitchen fire damages Norwich apartments

Norwich – A small kitchen fire in a second-floor apartment at 61 Henry Street this  afternoon caused little fire damage, but water damage from a sprinkler displaced seven tenants in three units, East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Chief Patrick Daley said.

The fire in the second-floor apartment set off a sprinkler head that flooded the unit where the fire occurred, and units below it on the first floor and ground floor, Daley said. One resident was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene, but declined to go to the hospital, Daley said.

The property manager of the apartment complex, owned by 21 Henry St. LLC, will accommodate the displaced tenants, Daley said.
