Judge Nina Elgo's Edwin Archer Randolph Diversity Award much deserved

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Honorable Judge Nina F. Elgo and Norwich native on her receiving the 2013 Edwin Archer Randolph Diversity Award given by the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity. The award is named after Mr. Randolph the Yale Law school graduate and Connecticut's first lawyer of color in 1880. The LCD selects from a list of elite nominees that exemplify the valued ability to give back to legal professionals of color or the female gender.

Judge Elgo is the precise choice to receive this prestigious honor. Judge Elgo, a graduate of Connecticut College and Georgetown University of Law, spent 14 years working in the Attorney General's office representing cases involving children's matters. She was the first Asian Pacific individual to be appointed a judge in Connecticut in 2004.

Judge Elgo has given back to our state by participating in numerous instructional seminars for undergraduates at Yale University and UConn. She also serves on the state Asian Pacific Bar Association board of directors.

Judge Elgo is an excellent example of a Rose City native who understands the importance of giving back to society.
