On Tuesday Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Mystic Middle School the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on a request by Toll brothers to modify the Old Mystic Estates Subdivision. Those interested should attend.
The request significantly modifies the original plan and as such it should require a new subdivision application. Instead, Toll Brothers is proposing another quick fix on one of the most poorly designed plans the town has ever approved. We live below the western edge of the development and have suffered from mudslides and excess run off. Each time there is flooding, both the developer and town promise to fix the issue, but it is never resolved.
The project's entire drainage plan needs to be revisited as the land cannot support the number of houses and the amount of impervious surface being built. Toll Brothers is going to leave Stonington when this development is complete and the town and its taxpayers will be left paying to correct these problems.
Please attend the public hearing and voice your opposition to this flawed project. Ask our wise Planning and Zoning Commission to deny this request and have the Toll Brothers submit a new subdivision plan that intelligently and effectively addresses all of the problems affecting its neighbors.
