Victim in fatal Old Saybrook crash identified

Old Saybrook — Police today identified the victim in a fatal car crash Tuesday morning as 44-year-old Philip Minore of Old Saybrook.

Minore was traveling east on Boston Post Road, near Mill Rock Road East, in a 2006 Honda CRV with a 4-year-old passenger when police said his vehicle went off the roadway and into the tree line. The accident occurred at 7:47 a.m.

Emergency medical efforts began on scene and continued while Minore was transported to the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The 4-year-old passenger also was transported to Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Medical Center for a medical evaluation. His condition is unknown.

The Old Saybrook Fire Department, Old Saybrook Ambulance Association, Essex Ambulance and the Middlesex Hospital Paramedics also responded and assisted at the accident scene and transporting patients.

The accident remains under investigation and any witnesses of the accident are encouraged to call the Old Saybrook Police Department at (860) 395-3142.
