A 57-year-old Bridgeport man arrested as part of a massive investigation into heroin and cocaine trafficking from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico into southeastern Connecticut was sentenced today to 37 months in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Larry Harris was among more than 100 people charged last year following investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service, London Police Department and numerous other state and local agencies.

In November, New London police stopped Harris’ vehicle after he left a residence on Belden Street in New London and found 40 grams of heroin prepackaged for street sales and $972 in cash.

On June 17, Harris pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute heroin. He was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven. The prison term will be followed by four years of special release.

The federal case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Alina P. Reynolds, Sarah P. Karwan and Henry K. Kopel. The state cases are being prosecuted by the New London County State’s Attorney Michael Regan and Senior Assistant State’s Attorneys Paul Narducci and Stephen Carney.
