Identifying Symptoms of Depression Wednesday, November 13 2013

Workshop: Identifying Symptoms of Depression, Accessing Treatment and Coping Skills

The pre-holiday season is here, and often people feel stressed in anticipation of the many positive things the holidays bring (family gatherings, gifts, rituals, travel), as well as the potentially negative things they may experience (family gatherings (!), increased spending, unmet expectation).

All of these things can contribute to people feeling 'down in the dumps', blue, depressed.

When is this within the normal range, and when is it something that may need the support of a professional?

The workshop on November 13, 6-7:30p.m. at OSMS Media Center/Library speaks to identifying depression within yourself or a loved one, risk factors, protective factors, and how to access support. This workshop/presentation will be facilitated by Sal Bruzzese, LPC, a long-time clinical consultant with YFS and school psychologist at ACES in Hamden.

Who should attend? Adults and High school students are welcome. Anyone who would like to learn more about identifying the signs of depression so they may be able to provide support to family or friends.

Please call 860-395-3190 to register for this free workshop. Location is OSMS Media Center/Library 11/13/13 6-7:30p.m.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
