Groton Town Council tables appointment
Groton Town - The Town Council Committee of the Whole on Tuesday night voted to table its appointment of a town attorney for two weeks.
Councilor Rich Moravsik, noting that the town has been represented by the same law firm for 26 years, made a motion that the town submit a request for proposals in order to determine whether other firms might be interested in the job.
After discussion about the process of requesting proposals, Councilor Heather Bond Somers motioned to reappoint the town's current attorney, Eileen C. Duggan of Suisman Shapiro. Ultimately, a motion made by Councilor Joe de la Cruz to table the discussion for two weeks passed by a vote of 5-3.
The Council has until March 5 to appoint a town attorney.
