Groton teacher injured in accident at school dies

Dawn Mallory, the teacher who was critically injured when she was hit by a car outside RHAM Middle School on March 14, has died, according to a message on a fundraising website that was set up after the accident.

“After a valiant struggle, Mom has succumbed to her injuries,” a message from Mallory’s family, dated Friday, read. “Your unwavering prayers and overwhelming support has helped us throughout this most difficult time. Our deepest thanks to you all.”

Mallory, 65, of Groton was walking by a car that had pulled into the school bus loading and unloading zone that Friday morning.

Mallory had worked at the Region 8 school district in Hebron since 1997, taught math at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich and held a job helping people file taxes. She had two sons, including Ledyard Police Officer Eric Bushor, who formerly worked for the Groton Town Police.
