Stonington police are investigating ruts in an all-purpose field left after someone drove over the grass. The ruts were discovered Monday.
Stonington — Police say they are investigating an incident that left one of the athletic fields at Stonington High School damaged.
Stonington Police Capt. Jerry Desmond said school staff notified police on Monday morning that there were two ruts in an all-purpose field left after someone drove over the grass.
"Basically a vehicle torn through the middle of the (multi-purpose) field, turning back and forth to tear up the grass," said Stonington High School Athletic Director Bryan Morrone.
Morrone said the vehicle started on the football practice field, drove through to the girls' soccer field and exited near the town recreation department building. He said the field is up for re-construction this summer.
