The state Department of Transportation announced this week that it will offer automatic service alerts for the two Connecticut River ferries. The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury and Chester-Hadlyme ferries operate from April 1 to November 30 each year.
The DOT occasionally suspends service because of high water or other issues. That information will now be available to those who sign up for e-alerts through the DOT website at www.ct.gov/dot. People can sign up for alerts by clicking on the “Ferries & Ports” button near the top of the page then click on the link for the preferred method of receiving alerts – either by email or tweets.
