Montville students accepted to national choir

Montville — Eight students from Tyl Middle School were accepted into a national middle school honors choir.

Every person from Tyl who auditioned was accepted, according to a statement from Tyl Director of Choral Music Judy Abrams, including seventh-graders Ashley Boyer, Morgan Judge and Melody Sopczak and eighth-graders Carley Branstrom, Tom Earomirski, Ze Huang, Mya Millbauer and Ethan Rose.

The Tyl students will join others singers from the U.S. and Canada to form the Honors Junior Choir. They will spend five days New York City in June working with Jeffery L. Ames, director of choral activities at Belmont University.

They will perform at Carnegie Hall on June 28 as part of the 2014 Middle School Honors Performance Series. Tickets can be purchased beginning 60 days before the performance at www.carnegiehall.org/boxoffice.
