    H.S. cross country roundup: Fitch boys sweep quad-meet

    Waterford — Conor O'Donnell placed fourth in 17 minutes, 49 seconds and Cameron Wilhelm fifth in 17:58 Tuesday as the Fitch High School boys' cross country team beat Lyman Memorial (21-34), New London (25-32) and Waterford (26-30).

    Tom Readett finished eighth (18:24) and Aaron Panciera 10th (18:39) for Fitch (3-1).

    Xavier Jones won the meet (17:08) and Juan Hernandez took seventh (18:22) for New London (2-3, 2-1 ECC Medium). Caleb Harris was third (17:32), Dan Clark sixth (18:03) and Dylan Abate ninth (18:32) for Waterford (2-3, 1-0).

    In other meets:

    • Mike Froscello (17:17), Daniel Peter (17:26) and Troy Anderson (19:26) finished first through third, respectively, as Norwich Tech beat Grasso Tech 17-46 in a Constitution State Conference meet.

    Jason Clare placed fifth (20:07) and Blake Wawrzynowicz sixth (20:15) for Norwich (2-0). Kariath Wiggins was fourth (19:54) and Kevin Philibert 12th (21:53) for Grasso.

    • Windham's Jesus Osuba finished first (16:48) and led the Whippets to wins over St. Bernard (27-28) and Wheeler (20-38) in the ECC Small. St. Bernard beat Wheeler 20-38. James Rose (17:30) and Jonathan Cabral (17:45) finished second and third, respectively, for the Saints (3-1, 3-1). Also, Ethan Rossier placed seventh (18:11) and Jon Burianek eighth (18:18). Max Reck took fifth (17:55), Henry Smith 10th (19:29) and Anton Smith 11th (19:31) for Wheeler (0-4, 0-2).

    • Van Heller placed ninth for Montville as it lost to Griswold (23-32), Tourtellotte (24-31), Hale-Ray (18-43) and Plainfield (27-28). Austin Fargo finished 12th (19:02) for Montville (0-6, 0-3 ECC Medium).

    Girls

    • Alana Olendorf (20:54) finished third and Alicia Moroyoqui fourth (21:29) as Fitch beat Lyman Memorial (20-41), New London (18-45) and Waterford (20-43). Danielle McIlquham took sixth (22:15), Katie Schneider seventh (22:21) and Molly Reinhold eighth (22:33) for Fitch (3-2). Jeannette Mooney finished first (20:12) for Waterford (2-4, 1-0 ECC Medium). Deanna McCarvell was fifth (22:03) for New London (1-3, 1-2).

    • St. Bernard earned a pair of 15-50 forfeit wins over Wheeler and Windham, which couldn't field complete teams, in the ECC Small Division. Ellen Arvidson was the individual winner for the Saints in 20:25 while Kelsey Melinosky finished second in 21:53 for Wheeler (0-3, 0-1). Christina McCaffrey and Anna McKinley finished third and fourth, respectively, for St. Bernard while Wheeler's Sarah Volack rounded out the top five.

    • Ashley Roch placed first (27:37) and teammate Santi Smith was second (27:45) as Norwich Tech beat Grasso Tech 15-50. Meghan Moore (29:33) took fifth and April Sanborn sixth (30:42) for the Warriors (2-0). Avianna Matula took third (29:30), Jennifer Martin fourth (30:11) and Aimee Mylly seventh (33:35) for Grasso (0-2).

    • Suzie Fitzgerald finished fifth for Montville (21:11) as it beat Plainfield (15-50) and Tourtellotte (16-39). Karishma Chauham took 13th (23:39) for Montville (4-2, 3-0 ECC Medium), which also lost to Griswold (18-43) and Hale-Ray (25-30).
