    Local roundup: Ledyard volleyball team remains unbeaten

    Westport - Ledyard High School scored an impressive non-conference road victory by sweeping Staples 25-18, 25-14 and 25-21 in a volleyball match on Friday night.

    Michelle Klinikowski had 24 kills and four aces for the unbeaten Colonels (8-0) while Madison Canestrari had 15 kills and added Jenny Nohara had 29 assists.

    In other games:

    • Mae Sefransky had 14 assists and 10 service points to power Fitch past E.O. Smith, 3-0, in a non-conference game. Game scores were 25-19, 25-19 and 25-13. Liz Gennerwein and Mackenzie Aldridge each had seven kills while Michelina Pinto added 16 digs for the Falcons (7-2).

    • Lexie Galluci had 21 assists, five aces and two kills to help lead Wheeler to a 25-22, 25-12, 25-23 win over Montville in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division. Jenn Paride had nine kills and two aces and Sara Gaccione had 20 digs for Wheeler (4-4, 1-3).

    • Waterford won the first two games before holding off Woodstock Academy for a 25-19, 25-10, 18-25, 17-25 and 15-13 victory. Vanessa Koblyluck had 36 assists for the Lancers (5-3) while Mickayla Tourje had 11 kills, Sarah Pacheco six aces and Jillian Sykora 26 digs.

    • Madison Bodley had 10 assists and five kills in Norwich Tech's 25-20, 25-16 and 25-21 loss to Putnam in the Constitution State Conference East Division. The Warriors are 2-4, 2-1.

    H.S. swimming

    • East Lyme (6-0, 4-0) remained unbeaten with a 96-46 victory over Windham/Lyman Memorial in the ECC while Old Lyme defeated Windham/LM 82-61 in a non-conference meet.

    Jazzy Bazinet, Madi Lillie and Michelle Saracovan each won an individual event and were part of a winning relay team for the Vikings. Bazinet won the diving competition (211.20 points), Lillie won the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.82) and Saracovan won the 500 freestyle (6:06.71).

    Bazinet and Lillie were also won the winning 200 medley relay team (2:07.76) with Ugne Kirvelevicius and Carlie Biondi while Saracovan was joined by Biondi, Abigail Bessire and Chara Proud on the winning 400 free relay team (4:27.30).

    Scarlet Delandvoisin won the 200 free (2:16.94) and Caroline Cox the 100 free (1:05.75) for Old Lyme (1-2).

    • Grace Moriarty and Mikaela Dimaapi won two events each as Fitch/St. Bernard beat Ledyard 100.5-61.5 in an ECC meet.

    Moriarty won the 200 freestyle (2:07.39) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.04) and Dimaapi won the 50 freestyle (27.26) and 100 freestyle (1:00.75).

    Skyler Pearse, Lauren Roper, Kailyn Lambert and Holly Conlon also won events for Fitch/St. Bernard (3-1, 3-1). Ledyard is 2-2, 2-2.

    H.S. cross country

    • Norwich Tech picked up 15-50 victories over Fishers Island in both the boys' and girls' race.

    The Warriors had the top seven finishers in the boys' race, with Mike Froscello winning in 16:46 followed by Daniel Peter (16:47) and Troy Anderson (19:54).

    April Sanborn won the girls' race in 18:34 followed by Santi Smith.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Molly Crowley scored two goals and added an assist for Stonington in a 4-0 shutout of Fitch/Ledyard in the ECC.

    Casey Williams had a goal and an assist and Megan Dreher also scored for the Bears (5-0, 5-0).

    Goalie Valerie Laplume had 12 saves for the Falcons (1-4-1, 1-3-1).

    • Megan Weir scored with 2:13 left in the second half to break a tie and lead NFA to a 2-1 win over East Lyme in an ECC game.

    Joelle Hage also scored and Hellen Heyse made seven saves for the Wildcats (2-2-1, 2-2-1).

    Kaihley Rafferty scored a goal, Cara Bradley had an assist and Alex Rose made 10 saves for East Lyme (2-5, 2-3).

    Women's soccer

    • Lindsay Duplessis converted a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to lift Coast Guard Academy past Clark University, 1-0, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Holly Moore made one save to earn her fifth shutout of the season for the Bears (5-3-1, 1-1).
