    Police: Drugs being sold from New London gas station

    New London – Police raided a Bank Street convenience store Wednesday afternoon where police allege an employee was selling synthetic marijuana known as K2, along with other drugs.

    Police said they seized 145 bags of K2, marijuana and $4,040 in cash from Ravi Mart at 268 Bank St. Police arrested store employee Ateeq Shafiq, 26.

    Ledge Light Health District, called in after police officers discovered filthy conditions, numerous flies “and other animals” in the store, closed the store due to health code violations, according to Acting Police Chief Peter Reichard.

    Shafiq was charged with possession of a hallucinogen, possession of a hallucinogen with intent to sell, possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
