    Appreciate coverage of Monsanto donation

The journalistic skills reflected by reporter Lee Howard regarding our community, and Pequotsepos member meeting on Friday Sept. 26 were impressive, making the front page and picked up by national and international press, "Monsanto gift to nature center prompts charge of 'greenwashing'," (Sept. 30). This issue reflects the struggle between citizens and the powerful hammer of the Monsanto industry and their positions of control in our government.

Conversations with Sen. Blumenthal and Congressman Courtney resulted in a deep concern amongst many of our legislators, both state and national, regarding the swarms of the Monsanto lobby, many recognized as a former lobby force for the cigarette industry, who mingle and interfere with their ability to serve constituents in D.C.

This Monsanto alignment with an established Nature Center here in New London County has many parents and teachers shocked and in deep concern. Hopefully, its Board of Directors, who are aware of the issues, will formally sever ties with the anti-nature dynamic of Monsanto, which produces millions of gallons of Roundup, containing an antibiotic applied to soil to destroy the life-giving microbes, natures most valued asset.

I commend The Day for your concerns.
