Michelle Obama to join Malloy at Connecticut Democrats rally

First lady Michelle Obama appears at a get-out-the-vote rally in support for Democratic Sen. Al Franken and Minnesota Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama is expected to make an appearance in Connecticut next week to rally election support for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

Connecticut Democrats say she is coming to New Haven on Oct. 30 for an event with Malloy and other Democratic candidates.

She is the latest political celebrity to get involved in a close, heated race between Malloy and Republican businessman Tom Foley. President Barack Obama is expected to headline a rally for Democrats in Bridgeport on Nov. 2.

Local Democrats said Thursday that details on the first lady's visit will be announced later.
