Woman sentenced to four years for New London robbery

A 31-year-old New London woman was sentenced Monday in Superior Court to four years in prison for a home invasion/robbery on Blackhall Street on March 30, 2013.

Jessica Annello had pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery.

Annello was arrested along with 28-year-old Naines Oliver and 37-year-old twin brothers Ricardo and Juan Cruz. Oliver also has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing in January. The men’s cases are pending in the same court.

According to an incident report written by New London Patrolman Ryan M. Griffin, a 41-year-old resident of 37 Blackhall St. was approached by two men and two women as he took out a bag of trash. He said one of the men said he owed him $40 and he responded that the man must be mistaken. He said the quartet followed him into the house before he could close and lock the door. He said they entered his room and stole a PlayStation gaming console, two pairs of Nike sneakers and $35 in cash. He said one the men punched him in the mouth and the other hit him in the back of the head with a metal object.

The police arrested the Cruz brothers at a Green Street apartment after receiving information from a suspect in an unrelated case, according to the report. The twins each were wearing a pair of the stolen sneakers when taken into custody, according to the report.
