    Submarine School selects top performers

    Groton — Machinist Mate 1st Class Robert Fallaw is the Naval Submarine School’s sailor of the first quarter 2015, selected Jan. 20 in ceremonies sponsored by the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 20.

    Fallaw is lead instructor of the Auxiliary Package Course in the Engineering and High Risk Training Department.

    Capt. Andrew C. Jarrett, commanding officer, Naval Submarine School, praised Fallaw for rapidly qualifying for Master Training Specialist and his role in facilitating seven other instructors in completing their qualifications.

    Jarrett added, “(A) dedicated leader, (Fallow’s) daily training and mentorship of over 200 students on watchstanding principles ensured the Submarine Force received highly motivated sailors ready to make an immediate impact.”

    Fallaw received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of Third Award) and was presented with a replica statuette of the Lone Sailor by George Hyland of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 20.

    Also honored as department sailors of the quarter were: Electronics Technician 1st Class Benjamin Chance, Machinist Mate 1st Class Rami Dia, Electronics Technician 1st Class William Printup, and Sonar Technician 1st Class Bryan Wright.

    Sonar Technician 2nd Class Alen Lelevier was the junior sailor of the quarter, selected by the Naval Submarine School First Class Petty Officer Association. Other nominees included Sonar Technician 2nd Class Brandon Gordon-Sirois, Machinist Mate 2nd Class Jason Lawrence, Electronics Technician 2nd Class Lucas Shepard, and Machinist Mate 2nd Class John Soria.

    Navy Diver 1st Class Ryan Foster was honored by the Naval Submarine School Master Training Specialist Board as instructor of the first quarter of 2015.
