Norwich planning official Davis running for Waterford first selectman

Waterford – Peter W. Davis, a Democrat, announced Wednesday that he has filed with the town clerk’s office to run for first selectman in the November 2015 election.

Davis, who works as director of Norwich Planning and Development, previously served as a selectman alongside Paul Eccard when Eccard was first selectman. He also served on the Board of Finance and Inlands Wetlands Commission, according to his resume.

Davis has been involved in Waterford community service activities since his 20s, he said. He identified himself as a third-generation Waterford resident.

He filed jointly with Glenn Patterson, a submarine construction planning consultant for Electric Boat. Patterson is running to serve on the Board of Selectmen as a selectman. Both men are 59, Davis said.

The two have served on the Waterford Representative Town Meeting, according to their resumes. Davis said they graduated from Waterford High School together in 1974.

Davis said it would be premature to describe a specific platform at this time in his campaign and said the pair is currently focused on gaining the trust of members of the community and the Democratic Town Committee.
