Virtuoso violinist Regina Carter performs on 'Live Lunch Break'

Over the years and episodes, The Day's "Live Lunch Break" weekly noontime concert series has featured not just a comprehensive and representative array of artists and musical styles - but also a wild and amazing selection of national and international touring artists. But we've never actually hosted a genuine MacArthur "Genius" Grant recipient.

Until now, that is. Yes: on Thursday, the astonishing jazz/roots violinist Regina Carter, touring behind her brilliant "Southern Comfort" album, brings her all-world band to the Telegraph Record Shop in New London for "Lunch Break" music and conversation. It's a fine opportunity to see one of the most thoughtful and creative artists in modern music - and serves as a great warmup for Carter's Friday concert at Connecticut College. "Lunch Break" is free and takes place at 19 Golden St., New London. For more information, access theday.com.
