Family to fly to Thailand in search of missing Connecticut National Guardsman

Enfield, Conn. — Relatives are flying to Thailand to search for a Connecticut National Guardsman who disappeared from a scuba diving trip.

Thirty-six-year-old Joshua Devine vanished April 11 from a tour boat headed for the Similan Islands.

Witnesses told the family he had been drinking prior to his disappearance and became aggressive and paranoid.

His family says two fellow divers brought Devine into a storage room to calm him down. They left him alone for 15 minutes and when they returned, he wasn't there. Despite that, the tour boat did not stop.

The family says the story doesn't add up. They say Devine is a master diver and scuba instructor who wouldn't drink before entering the water.

His mother and his sister are flying to Thailand on Thursday.
