Sub base to mark 4th of July with 21-gun salute

On Saturday, Naval Submarine Base New London will join other military installations across the country in marking Independence Day.
At noon, the Saluting Battery from Naval Submarine Support Facility's Weapons Department will commence a 21-gun salute honoring the nation's 239th birthday.
The Saluting Battery will fire a single round volley at 30-second intervals until the 21-gun tribute is completed.
The salute will take place at the Naval Submarine Support Facility Weapons Compound.
The event is not open to members of the general public.
