East Lyme police warn residents of burglaries in Old Lyme

East Lyme — Police, after learning of burglaries perpetrated in Old Lyme, are warning residents to be wary and lock their doors.

According to Detective Mark Comeau, an unspecified number of Old Lyme residents recently were burglarized.

Comeau said property recovered by police there links the crimes to a perpetrator who’s a white man in his late 20s. The man recently was released from prison, where Comeau said he was for committing residential burglaries.

Comeau said it’s possible the man is working with another man of a similar description and driving a dark-colored Honda of some type.

Comeau, citing the ongoing investigation, didn’t provide any more details. He said Old Lyme police are working to secure a warrant for the man’s arrest.

In the meantime, he advised residents to lock up their homes and their cars and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
