Mystic -- Visitors and residents to downtown Mystic this summer will see that the schooner Argia has returned to its original berth at Steamboat Wharf, just south of the drawbridge.

From 1974 to 2001 the two-masted topsail schooner had docked next to the wharf at the Steamboat Inn. When the owners of the inn built the Valiant, a passenger yacht with overnight accommodations, the Argia had to relocate and moved to a dock off Holmes Street. The Valiant is no longer in operation.

“We are thrilled to be back in our original spot, south of the drawbridge, in the heart of downtown,” said Amy Blumberg, the general manager of Argia Mystic Cruises. “We are able to be under sail for 20 minutes longer, and we won’t have to stress about timing (the drawbridge openings).”

The Argia began sailing from its new location last month. With the new berth, the Argia offers four public cruises a day. More information is at www.argiamystic.com or (860) 536-0416. Offices are located at 12 Steamboat Wharf.
