    EMPLOYMENT

    Primary care physicians John Lindsay, DO, and Marianne Longacre, DO, have joined Westerly Hospital’s medical staff and are accepting new patients. Drs. Lindsay and Longacre, who are employed by Northeast Medical Group, are located at 45 Wells St.

    Lindsay attended medical school at the Georgia Campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Broward Health Medical Center. He has has a special interest in helping patients with chronic disease management.

    Longacre is double board-certified in Family Practice and in Neuro-musculoskeletal Medicine. She also attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency at Massapequa General Hospital and Saint Barnabas Hospital. Longacre has practiced for 16 years in the Charlestown area.

    Marc C. Scanapieco has joined the Westerly Community Credit Union as the Small Business Lending Officer. He comes to WCCU with over nine years in the banking industry, most recently from Bank of America as a Small Business Banker, and is a graduate of University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance.     Alexis Kahn of North Stonington has joined Chelsea Groton Bank as Assistant Vice President, Business Banking Officer. Most recently, she worked for Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank in New York as a Corporate Banker and Relationship Manager.     The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT and the Mohegan Tribal Health Department have partnered to present the 5th annual Total Life Expo, free of charge, on Saturday, Oct. 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mohegan Sun’s Convention Center. Highlights include a Connecticut-made artisan market, complimentary health screenings, cooking demonstrations, a Red Cross blood drive, children’s activities (including a larger-than-life 70-foot inflatable obstacle course), and dozens of health-related exhibitors.

    Northstar Wealth Partners, which has an office in Old Saybrook, joined with other volunteers assisting Habitat for Humanity in completing a new home in Mystic, which was being readied for a December 2017 delivery. 

    UCFS will a Food Drive to benefit the Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry on Nov. 4 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Norwich Stop & Shop. Non-perishable food items will be accepted to fill emergency bags for UCFS clients in immediate need of food assistance. The Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry opened in January 2017 to help UCFS clients who experience food insecurities.

    HONORS

    Liberty Bank was recently named a Hartford Courant Top Workplace for the sixth straight year and placed number one in the large-employer category for the first time. The bank was one of 60 local companies and organizations to make the list for 2017. Winners were announced and recognized amongst 600 attendees at the annual Top Workplaces celebration held at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Sept. 21.
