Mashantucket Pequot Firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire that broke out late Monday morning on an outside balcony in the lounge area of the 21st floor of the Grand Pequot Tower at Foxwoods.

Jon Marr, fire chief for Mashantucket Pequot Fire & Emergency Services, said the fire started at around 10:53 a.m. and prompted the evacuation of a few floors as a precautionary measure. There were no injuries.

The cause is still under investigation, Marr said.

Marr expressed appreciation to the other fire department's that responded to the call: North Stonington, Ledyard, City of Norwich and Mohegan Tribe.
