Friday Night Folk boasts double bill

    Sally Rogers (sallyrogers.com)

Is it fair to anoint Geoff Kaufman as the Hendrix of the local folk music scene?

    Probably.

Kaufman's an omnipresent troubadour whose work as a stylist, musical historian and gregarious entertainer is pretty iconic by now; all that's left is for him to burn his guitar a la Hendrix at Monterey Pop.

Still, I wouldn't count on any conflagrations when Kaufman returns to New London's Friday Night Folk concert series, taking place in Unity Hall at All Souls UU Congregation. He's done just fine without the histrionics, thank you.

Joining Kaufman on the bill is Sally Rogers — no, not the "Dick Van Dyke Show" character but rather the esteemed singer-songwriter whose global performance schedule has included over a dozen appearances on "Prairie Home Companion."

Will the two of them join forces for some duet action? One can always hope.

Geoff Kaufman and Sally Rogers, "Friday Night Folk," 7 p.m. Friday, Unity Hall, All Souls UU Congregation, 19 Jay St., New London; $20 door, $17 advance; $10 students/military with ID; fridaynightfolk.org.
