CMEEC hires new business development director

Norwich — A Northeast regional salesman for the National Rifle Association was named Tuesday to the new position of director of customer and community prosperity at the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative.

In his new post, Jake Pagragan will be responsible for business development, community and customer engagement, delivery of new products and services as CMEEC seeks to expand its service areas to neighboring states, according to a news release announcing his appointment. CMEEC currently is owned by six municipally owned electric utilities in Connecticut, including Norwich Public Utilities, Groton Utilities, Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, and Bozrah Light & Power, owned by Groton Utilities.

The salary for the position was listed at $140,000 in the CMEEC 2018 budget.

Prior to joining CMEEC, Pagragan was Northeast sales executive for the NRA, responsible for building, maintaining and managing business relationships. Prior to that position, Pagragan served nine years on active duty as an artillery officer in the U.S Marine Corps, where he also received certifications in sales and public speaking, the release said. He remains a member of the Selected Marine Corps Reserves as an executive officer for the Golf Battery 3rd Battalion 14th Marines.
