Groton — Police are investigating the untimely death of a woman who was found early Friday morning at the Ramada Inn at 156 Kings Highway.

About 7:24 a.m. officers from the Groton Town Police Department, along with members of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance and medics from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, responded to the hotel for a report of a person not breathing. Officers and EMS personnel located an unresponsive adult female who was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The case is being treated as an untimely death and is being investigated by members of the police department's Criminal Investigative Division, with the assistance of the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State's Attorney's Office.
