    JB Smoove plays Foxwoods

JB Smoove knows how to make an impression.

He transformed his role as brash Leon Black on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” into a recurring gig and became one of Larry David’s best improv partners.

And he made arguably the biggest splash of all the star comedians to pepper Chris Rock’s movie “Top Five.” Smoove played Rock’s wise and wisecracking bodyguard and confidant, and, yes, I would suggest that he gave a funnier, more nuanced performance than Cedric the Entertainer or Tracy Morgan or Jerry Seinfeld or Kevin Hart.

As with all comedians, Smoove gets drawn back to the stage even as he turns up in movies and on TV shows. Smoove — who was born Jerry Brooks — comes to Foxwoods on Saturday for a stand-up gig. For comedy fans, this is the place to be.

    — Kristina Dorsey

JB Smoove, 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Foxwoods’ Fox Theater; $30-$50; 1-800-200-2882.
