Captain Scott’s hosts roots acts this weekend

It probably never occurred to Captain Thomas Scott, who arrived in New London in 1871 to oversee construction of the Race Rock Lighthouse, that live music and lobster rolls would be a tremendous combination.

No matter. The Captain’s heirs more than understand the magical possibilities.

And so, with the Season of the Sun upon us, and New London’s Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock welcoming hungry diners, let it be known that, once again, the restaurant’s leisurely outdoor deck will host occasional live music events.

The sounds kick off this weekend with two shows. On Saturday, locally beloved roots band The Hoolios will entertain. Sunday afternoon, New Jersey’s Citizens Band Radio, an outfit devoted to the spirit and sounds of pure honky tonk, will perform.

The Hoolios, 4 p.m. Saturday, and Citizens Band Radio, 4 p.m. Sunday, Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock, 80 Hamilton St., New London; both shows free; (860) 439-1741.
