Hunger is a serious problem — and bless all the artists, corporations, volunteers and venues that regularly contribute to efforts to keep local food shelters stocked.

On Friday, then, head to Captain Scott's Lobster Dock in New London for the latest in the generous, entertaining and ongoing "Hoot for Hunger" events that benefit the New London Community Meal Center.

Scheduled to perform are The Crew (6:30 p.m.), Sherwood (6:45 p.m.), Coal Tattoo (7 p.m.), Christian Brunelle and Noah Feldman (7:15 p.m.), Sue Mead (7:30 p.m.), Roy Maclean (7:45 p.m.), Golden Ratio (8 p.m.), Hugh Birdsall (8:15 p.m.) and Carlos Carrion (8:30 p.m.).

And, no, you are NOT to feel guilty if you treat yourself to a lobster roll. The Captain Scott's folks are wonderfully generous in our community, and successful for all the right reasons.
