Groton — A free job fair for those seeking to re-enter the workforce or break into a better career will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa.

More than 50 employers from both the public and private sectors will be offering immediate openings in a wide range of fields. TheDay.Jobs, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, Mystic Marriott, Hall Communications, Atlantic Broadband, American Job Center, The Day and the Groton Public Library, is hosting the Spring 2017 Job Fair. Last year's event attracted hundreds of people.

"Events like this Job Fair, which connect southeastern Connecticut's talented workers with employers looking to hire, are a critical part of our efforts to strengthen our region's economy," according to a release from The Day's marketing department. "By supporting and hosting this job fair, The Day and its partners are helping to build a stronger, more innovative southeastern Connecticut."

Spring traditionally is a strong season for jobs in southeastern Connecticut, which counts on the travel and tourism industries to a greater extent than other parts of the state.
