Editor's note: This version clarifies the date of the event.

Students from the University of Connecticut will present the results of their research projects on Groton history on Tuesday, May 5, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Groton Public Library. The students’ projects were based on research using local historical collections.

Topics include the Griswold Inn, Fort Trumbull, the Bacon Banjo Factory, Groton Bank as a historic district, the legacy of Mary Jobe Ackley, the hurricane of 1938 and the impact of World War II growth on Groton’s schools.

Students will make short presentations on their topics, show the websites they developed to publicize their findings and answer questions from the audience. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. The Groton Public Library is at 52 Newtown Road.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
