    H.S. boys' basketball: Peabody scores 31 to lift Lancers to 11th straight victory

    Waterford — Landon Peabody had 31 points and six steals as Waterford won its 11th straight game with a 74-60 victory over Plainfield in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division boys' basketball game Friday night.

    The Lancers (14-3, 8-1) remained tied for first place in the division with New London with one game to play against Stonington on Feb. 23.

    Mikey Buscetto added 21 points, six steals and four assists for Waterford, which overcame a 15-10 first-quarter deficit by outscoring the Panthers 26-14 in the second.

    Liam Jacobs led Plainfield with 20 points.

    In other games:

    • Isaiah Cunningham Hodge scored 20 points as New London beat Montville 76-37 in an ECC Medium Division game. Ariel Cruz had 13 points and 11 rebounds and D. Major Roman scored 10 for New London (10-7, 8-1), which remained tied for first with Waterford and plays Killingly in their final Medium game on Feb. 23. Cody Calash led Montville (3-12, 0-8) with nine points.

    • Scott Whipple scored 20 points as Ledyard remained atop the ECC Large Division with a 59-50 road victory over East Lyme. Isiah McNair added 15 for the Colonels (13-3, 6-1) while Dev Ostrowski made five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points for East Lyme (8-8, 1-7) and Cristian Brown added 16.

    • Jimmy Matos scored 16 points as Bacon Academy held on in the fourth quarter for a 55-53 victory over Norwich Free Academy in the ECC Large Division. The Bobcats took a 40-26 lead into the fourth quarter but were outscored 27-15. Jalen Graham scored 20 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead NFA (10-7, 5-3), while Brendon Sholes added 12.

    • Drake Gavin scored 27 points, including three 3-pointers, as Old Lyme outlasted Westbrook 64-62 in the Shoreline Conference. George Doll added 14 points for the Wildcats while Matt Watt-St. Germain also made three 3-pointers to finish with 13 points.

    • Lyman Memorial outscored Wheeler 14-2 in the second overtime period and went on to win the ECC Small Division game 75-63. Wheeler's Mike Dellaporta had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and broke the Lions' career record for 3s with 146. Conor Gleason held the record with 145. Alex Haines added 21 points and 26 rebounds for Wheeler (5-10, 1-7). Ryan Condon of Wheeler made a 3-pointer to send the game to a second overtime.
