    H.S. tennis roundup: Old Lyme girls play two ... and win

    Old Lyme — The Old Lyme High School girls' tennis team swept a pair of matches against Shoreline Conference foe North Branford on Wednesday, winning both by 6-1 margins.

    Mackenzie Swaney and Emily Brault each won two singles matches in straight sets while the No. 1 doubles team of Marissa Smith and Shannon Nosal were also victorious twice for the Wildcats.

    In other matches:

    • Kailey Sullivan, Jillian Leger and Jessica and Samantha Cote all won in straight sets as Fitch downed Montville 6-1. Fitch is 4-1. Vicky Lin and Rachel Liang won at doubles for Montville (0-6).

    • Gabby Dellacono won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles as Stonington downed Norwich Free Academy 7-0 in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division. Charlotte Johnstone, Mackenzie Sadler and Margot Goodman won at singles for the Bears (5-0, 4-0). NFA is 2-5, 0-5.

    • St. Bernard received singles wins from Michaela Abate, Wendy Bessette, Marissa Fratoni and Anna McKinley in a 4-3 win over East Lyme in the ECC Large. The Saints are 2-3, 2-3. The No. 1 duo of Ariel Plantz and Lily Slemp led a doubles sweep for East Lyme (3-3, 1-3).

    • The No. 3 doubles duo of Sophie Joseph and Becca Clark scored the match-clinching point in Waterford's 4-3 win over Woodstock in the ECC Large. Sarah Veridy and Sophie Impellitieri won singles matches in straight sets while Stacey Tasoulas and Catherine Wao won at doubles for Waterford (4-2, 3-1).

    • New London lost the first two singles matches but rallied for a 5-2 win over Bacon in an ECC Small Division match. Sandrine Etienne and Olivia Santana won singles matches for New London (4-2, 4-1) along with the doubles teams of Yesha Patel-George Ann Amar, Jalyn Scruggs-Hadiya Robinson and Cora Sawyer-Chloe Sherman-Watson. 

    Boys

    • New London/Wheeler won three singles matches and went on to beat Bacon Academy 5-2 in an ECC Small Division match. Bahaa Hoda, Andrew Carlson and Zack Skarbacz won their matches for New London (3-3, 3-2) along with the teams of Deyvon Verdini-Bharat Dhyani and Nigeria Davis-Jorge Hidalgo.

    • Camiren Carter, Mike Gianakos, Hugh Sokolski and James Zhu all won at singles for Waterford in its 7-0 win over Woodstock Academy in the ECC Large. Waterford is 3-2, 2-1.

    • Eric Wu, Ashwin Menon, Matei Coiculescu and Sumeet Kadian won their singles matches in straight sets to lead East Lyme past St. Bernard 7-0 in the ECC Large. The Vikings improved to 4-0, 4-0, while St. Bernard fell to 2-3, 2-3.

    • Stonington beat NFA 7-0 in an ECC Large Division match. Jacob Stiger, Mitchell Edwards, Chris Tsang and William Micheson won singles matches for the Bears (3-1, 2-1).

    • Fitch defeated Montville 6-1 receiving singles wins from Chase Brown, Shiloh Feldmon and Jacob Carlson. The Falcons are 4-1. Rohit Sinha won at No. 2 singles for Montville (1-3).
