    High school softball: NFA, Fitch keep pace in the ECC Large

    East Lyme — Sara Cote had a two-run single in the fourth inning to give Norwich Free Academy the lead and the Wildcats went on to beat East Lyme 6-3 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division softball game.

    The game was tied 2-2 before NFA (11-1, 5-0) scored three times in the fourth.

    Shea Gendron and Brooke Gottshall had two hits each for NFA, which will meet top-ranked Fitch for the first time this season Friday. Both teams are unbeaten in the ECC Large.

    Isabel Siciliano had three hits, including a double, and two RBI for East Lyme (9-3).

    In other games:

    • Sam Muller pitched a five-hitter and went 4-for-4 with a homer and seven RBI as Wheeler beat Tourtellotte 12-2 in an ECC Small Division game. Muller (4-3) struck out seven with five walks, doubled and scored three runs. Raven Houck was 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs scored and Nikki Collins drove in three runs for Wheeler (6-3, 5-0).

    • Madison Bodley pitched a one-hitter and drove in four runs as Norwich Tech beat Grasso Tech 27-0 in a five-inning Constitution State Conference game. Bodley struck out seven with no walks and was 4-for-5 with two doubles and four runs scored. Abbey Pater of Norwich Tech singled, hit a three-run homer and scored three runs.  

    • Kazi Walker and Ashley Goldstein combined to pitch a one-hitter as Wateford beat New London 17-0 in a five-inning ECC Medium Division game. Shea Spellman hit a triple and a grand slam, Lily Stoddard tripled home three runs, Avery Kosma homered and drove in three runs and Ashlee Hancock had two hits and scored twice for Waterford (8-4, 6-1). Naralee Suarez had the hit for New London (2-11, 0-7).

    • Kaitlin Price's three-run triple highlighted a five-run sixth inning which led Montville to an 8-2 win over Killingly in an ECC Medium Division game. Winning pitcher Lexi Kobyluck had an RBI triple for Montville (5-8, 2-5).

    • Jonell Hobert had four hits and Rylee MacMillan four hits and four RBI in No. 1 Fitch's 26-3 victory over Bacon Academy in the ECC Large Division, called after five innings due to the mercy rule. Winning pitcher Jayden Delaporta and Caroline Taber added three hits each. Fitch is 11-0 overall, 5-0 in the league.

    • Briana Beverly was 1-for-2 with a home run and Emily Nelson 1-for-2 with a double in St. Bernard's 22-2 loss to Plainfield in the ECC Small Division. St. Bernard is 1-9 overall, 1-5 in the Small Division.

    • Woodstock scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning, pulling away for a 13-1 win over Ledyard in an ECC Large Division game. Madison Sanborn doubled and scored and Olivia Satti drove in a run for Ledyard (3-6, 0-5).
