State regulators must limit CL&P's powers

CL&P pursued an increase to their rates while at the same time they were wasting millions of dollars monthly on replacement workers. After 3 p.m. and on weekends their CL&P troubleshooter linemen are all home while these other workers are in CL&P trucks at twice the cost. A large number of these workers are from out of state; they are taking the money and running.

CL&P has far exceeded the amount they requested for troubleshooters in the rate hearings. Who will ultimately get stuck with the bill for this wasteful business decision? With some of the highest rates in the land, the residents of Connecticut should be getting the best possible service but that is not currently the case. No one knows the electrical system and towns better than their regular employees. Only they can bring the best service to Connecticut. When will the regulators rein in the powers to be at CL&P and say enough is enough?
