NRC's self interest in keeping nukes running

The April 18 story by Judy Benson, “Millstone incurred $2.5 million in special inspection costs, highest in region for 2014,” concerned  Millstone's expenditures relating to the NRC bills to Millstone for having to be onsite for safety concerns relating to potential accidents there, which would endanger all of Connecticut, which in 2014 earned the NRC millions of dollars for sitting in and observing just three nukes in the Northeast, and upwards of a quarter of a billion dollars for inspecting all 100 nuclear plants in this country.

It behooves the NRC to just keep these plants functioning, at the expense of catastrophic nuclear failure obliterating public safety, just to keep a handsome influx of revenue to stay in existence. Shut down the plants and cut off their paycheck.

The blizzard of names thrust at us to address our safety here are mindboggling. Only one name counts. It is Jeff Semancik, the state’s DEEP radiation assessment officer (860-424-3029) appointed last year, but before that was employed by Millstone for 23 years reaching plant manager status. He will help us understand.
