Scott backed insurance industry, not women

I was honored that Christine Conley, candidate for state representative for Groton and Ledyard, asked me to speak at her rally on Oct. 15 for Women's Health Care and Access to Mammograms.

A mammogram saved my life and I have been cancer free for 15 years. Self-examination would not have been enough, as both I and my doctor did not detect the cancer with the self-exam. Women need access to mammograms and especially to the new technology of 3D-mammogram and my doctor told me the pictures were more detailed and it will be much easier to detect cancer with this test.

I was extremely disappointed to learn that Rep. John Scott voted against insurance for the new mammogram technology when he voted "no" to HB5233, which won bipartisan support of the entire House except for three legislators, Scott being one. His vote was a vote for the insurance industry and not for women of Groton and Ledyard.

I know the difference between self-examination and a mammogram. A mammogram saved my life. I support Christine Conley who will fight for my voice in healthcare in Hartford.
