Would Trump risk financing his wall?

I'm surprised that our president-elect, with his passion for building things and his distrust of government, would propose that the government fund the wall with Mexico.

Why not forget those antiquated notions of conflict of interest, and let Donald Trump form his own private company to build the wall? Financing it should be easy; he could issue bonds. I'm sure he could get plenty of takers among his followers. And once he hammers out the details of getting Mexico to pay for it (with interest, of course), the proud patriotic bondholders, and our president, will make a tidy profit.

Those of us who are skeptical of the venture will be left out in the cold, and the president will get the further satisfaction of insulting us via Twitter. What could possibly go wrong?
