Don't let Trump alone start a war

At the very moment North and South Korea start a peaceful dialogue about the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang our President threatens North Korea with our enormous nuclear arsenal. Should any person, and in particular, this president, have the authority to deliver a pre-emptive attack on North Korea? Clearly not.

Our Senator Chris Murphy introduced a bill, S. 2047, (The Preventing Preemptive War in North Korea Act of 2017). This bill would prohibit the president from entering hostilities unless the nation has been attacked. A declaration of war would require the approval of Congress as stipulated in the Constitution (Section I, Article 8). We appreciate Murphy for offering this very important legislation, and ask the people of Connecticut to support it. In addition, we ask Senator Richard Blumenthal to co-sponsor this bill.

A single man should not be left to choose war for the rest of us.

    Chris and Edith Morren
