Three students at The Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mystic won honors in the recent New England Tri Star Championship Regional Competition in Quincy, Mass.

Ivelisse Colon, Dyana Fonda and Estie Peiper all attended one of the biggest ballroom dance competitions in the area.

Peiper and instructor and dance partner Vadim Asmolov placed first in the Advanced Bronze Proficiency in all dances.

Ivelesse Colon and instructor and dance partner Asmolov placed first in the open smooth division, and placed second in the open smooth championship division.

Dyana Fonda and dance partner Asmolov placed second in the silver Closed Smooth championship, and fourth in the open smooth championship.

Fonda also had success with Asmolov at the National Dance Championship in Orlando Florida on Nov. 2.

The Fred Astaire Dance Studio is located at 12 Roosevelt Ave. in Mystic. It is open Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 9 p.m.
