    Mitchell men's lacrosse, softball programs earn major NECC awards

    Mitchell College's men's lacrosse and softball programs picked up major awards from the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.

    Jordan Cook, a senior from Fitch, was named NECC Player of the Year in men's lacrosse while sophomore teammate J.D LeMay was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season and Chevy Perry, a freshman from Ledyard, was named Rookie of the Year.

    In softball, sophomore Brittany Fiederlein was named NECC Pitcher of the Year while freshman Samantha DelConte was selected as Rookie of the Year.

    Both programs won NECC regular-season titles before bowing out in their respective conference tournaments.

    In addition, Cook, LeMay, junior Maximilian Crowley and senior Tyler Kradas were named to the All-NECC boys' lacrosse team while Fiederlein, DelConte, junior Shannon O'Neil and junior Rivkah Berkman of St. Bernard were named to the All-NECC softball first team and senior Dylan Riccardi made the second team.

    Cook, a midfielder, had 24 goals and eight assists while LeMay went 3-0 in NECC play and finished the year with 186 saves and six wins and Perry, a defender, picked up 31 ground balls, forced 13 turnovers, scored a goal on the only shot he attempted and had two assists.

    Fiederlein, meanwhile, was 14-1 with a 9.71 ERA in 17 NECC appearances, leading the conference in wins, ERA, strikeouts (104) and innings pitched (98.0). DelConte, a catcher, batted .483 in 18 NECC games with seven doubles, two triples, a home run, 19 runs and 12RBI. She also did not commit an error in 131 chances.
