    Local colleges: Ouimette lifts Conn women past Roger Williams

    New London — Sophomore Payton Ouimette scored a season-high 31 points and added eight rebounds to power the Connecticut College women's basketball team past Roger Williams University 84-75 on Thursday in a non-conference game.

    Senior Liz Malman (15 points), junior Mairead Hynes (14) and freshman Sami Ashton (10) also scored in double figures for the Camels (7-2).

    Conn jumped out to a 37-32 halftime lead. The Camels shot 47.4 percent from the field and held a 38-28 edge in the rebounding department.

    Bridget Quilty led RWU (4-3) with 27 points. 

    In other women's games:

    • UConn-Avery Point won its eighth straight, beating Bunker Hill Community College 99-20 in Region 21 play. Tatyana LaFrance Boyce had 47 points, 13 steals, six rebounds and six assists for the Pointers (8-3, 4-1). Taleeha Green added 22 points and 15 rebounds and Meagan Bianchi had 12 points and 11 assists.

    • Jessica Shepherd had a season-high 17 points and added six rebounds for Mitchell College in an 88-44 loss to Dean College at the Yarnall Athletic Center. Tiana Edwards had a team-best seven rebounds off the bench for the Mariners (2-6). Chelsea Johnson had 21 points for Dean (9-4).

    Men's basketball

    • St. Thomas More improved to 3-5 with a 96-77 win over Redemption Christian. Tyrei Randall contributed 34 points and six rebounds while E.J. Anosike added 23 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Chancellors.

    • David Labossiere chipped in 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Isaiah Robinson had 19 points and six rebounds to power Conn College past Western New England 88-61 in a non-conference game. Zuri Pavlin had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Tyler Rowe added 11 points and eight assists for the Camels (6-1).

    • Bunker Hill CC beat Avery Point 72-54. Stonington’s Amadi White had 14 points and 18 rebounds and Will Orr added 15 points and six rebounds.

    • Mitchell is still searching for its first win after losing at Albertus Magnus 107-87 in non-conference action. Domenico Santiago led the Mariners (0-5) with 27 points and 15 rebounds while Brayvon Young had 18 points and Alan Morgan added 15 points and 11 assists. Jaqhawn Walters had 29 points and 16 rebounds for Albertus (5-2).
