    Local colleges: No. 9 Conn women complete weekend sweep of Williams

    New London — Cassie Hunter scored 11 seconds into the game, helping No. 9 Connecticut College complete a weekend sweep of Williams College with a 4-1 victory in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's hockey game at Dayton Arena on Saturday.

    Stephanie Izzi, Katlyn Paiva and Olivia Good also had goals for the Camels (10-4-2, 7-3).

    Men's hockey

    • Liam Feeney and Tyler Whitney each had a game and an assist as Trinity College downed Conn College 6-0 in the NESCAC. The Bantams (10-5-1, 6-4) outshot the Camels 60-16. Connor Rodericks had 54 saves for Conn (3-10-2, 1-7-2).

    Men's indoor track

    • Coast Guard Academy won five events during Springfield's Maroon and White Classic. Raeford Penny led a 1-2 sweep in the 400-meter race, winning in 50.89 seconds, just ahead of Nicholas Frystrack (50.90). Also earning wins for the Bears were Brett Foster in the mile (season-best 4:29.34), Darius Adam in the long jump (21 feet, 8 inches) and a pair of relay teams — the 4x400 team of Frystack, Penny, Luke Rehfuss and Aidan Becker (3:25.44) and the 4x800 team of Foster, Riley Miller, Sydney Johnson and Casey Dieter-Leeds (8:31.44).

    Placing second for Coast Guard were Michale Bishop in the 200 (23.10), Johnson in the 800 (2:03.60) and Denis Daly in the pole vault (14-5.25) while thirds went to Miller in the mile (4:33.04), Andre Gallant in the 5,000 (16:14.60) and Sawyer Stanton in the high jump (6-2).

    • Conn College freshman Danny Aschale won the mile in 4:24.22 as the Camels finished third at the Smith College Invitational. Freshman Sean Soucy won the 5,000 (16:22.81) and the 4x200 relay team of Blake O'Neal, Arlo Siegel, Andrew Peterson and Geoff Pendergast won in 1:36.32. Conn's 4x800 team of Aschale, Jacob Brill-Weil, Christian Carr-Locke and Scott Mason was second (8:11.17) and Jordan Comeau (800, 2:03.21) and Ben Bosworth (3,000, 8:39.49) took thirds.

    Women's indoor track

    • Coast Guard's Ashlee Johnson and Anita Green won events at Springfield's Maroon and White Classic. Johnson captured the 600-meter race in 1:39.99 while Green won the 3,000 in 10:48.74. The Bears also picked up second-place finishes Adora Lawrence in the 800 (2:27.39), Rachel Burchill in the 5K (10:23), Gabrielle Troise in the shot put (39 feet, 2.5 inches) and the 4x400 relay team of Sarah Cummings, Madeline Colwell, Lawrence and Alexandra Cobb (4:13.15) while Bonny Turnage was third in the mile (5:24.78) and Alexia Troise was third in the weight throw (47-10.5).

    • Conn College senior Lauren Kennedy set a school record while winning the shot put at the Smith College Invitational. Kennedy's throw of 42-8.25 broke her own school record and was part of a 1-2 finish for the Camels (Koko Mensah was second at 40-6.25). In addition, Emily Senatore was second in the weight throw (42-0.75) and Ashley Curran was second in the 3,000 (10:21.50). Conn also picked up thirds from Leila Alfaro in the 60 hurdles (9.77) and the 4x200 relay team of Ivan Lamptey, Alfaro, Amanda Jacobsen and Alica Palmer (1:51.49). Conn finished fifth as a team with 79 points.

    Women's swimming

    • Addy Rutkoske, Kristen Young and Cece Marzinsky each won a pair of events and were part of a winning relay leading Coast Guard to a 190-102 win over Clark in the NEWMAC. Rutkoske won the 100 breaststroke (1:11:05) and 200 breaststroke (2:35.55) while Young won the 100 freestyle (54.85) and 100 butterfly (1:00.07). Marzinsky was also a double winner for the Bears in the 200 butterfly (2:17.95) and the 400 IM (4:55.43).

    Former Fitch standout Jackie Kokomoor won the 50 freestyle (25:04) and was part of two winning relays, while Tricia Talens won the 200 backstroke (2:20.89) and was part of the two winning relay teams. The 200 medley relay team of Talens, Rutkoske, Marzinsky and Kokomoor won in 1:54.80 while the 200 freestyle relay team of Kokomoor, Brooke Harkrader, Young and Talens won in 1:42.99.

    Men's swimming

    • Joe Rodriguez won the 50 freestyle and was part of two winning relays as nine different swimmers won individual events leading Coast Guard past Clark 172-90 in the NEWMAC. Rodriguez finished the 50 free in 21.69, the Bears' 200 medley relay team of Nicholas Burch, John Pompay, Rodriquez and Brandon Ledford won in 1:38.97 and the 200 freestyle team of Chasse Sodemann, Rodriquez, Patrick Jackson and Ledford won in 1:28.02.

    Also for the Bears, Jordan Keller won the 1,000 freestyle (10:24.60), Adam Peterson the 200 freestyle (1:49.13), Jackson the 100 breaststroke (54.37), Pompay the 100 breaststroke (1:00.36), Owen Gibson the 200 butterfly (2:00.82), Max McCall the 100 freestyle (50.99), Zach Baker the 200 backstroke (2:03.77) and Justin Kang the 200 breaststroke (2:17.02).
